CarbPure TRA for Drinking Water and Wastewater

CarbPure TRA is our carbon for treatment plants. It’s certified to NSF/ANSI 61, meets ANSI/AWWA B600-16, and is formulated for fast adsorption in systems where powdered carbon has only a short time in the water before it settles out or reaches the filters.

Drinking Water

Powdered carbon is the standard seasonal tool for taste and odor. Geosmin and MIB, the earthy and musty compounds that follow algae blooms, shrug off permanganate and chlorine but adsorb on carbon, and many people can taste them at a few nanograms per liter. Plants feed carbon when the problem shows up and stop when it’s gone, with no capital project. CarbPure TRA also targets the natural organic matter that forms disinfection byproducts, herbicides such as atrazine, and algal toxins.

Two habits get the most out of every bag. Feed carbon as far upstream of sedimentation as the plant allows, because contact time drives adsorption. And keep the carbon feed point apart from permanganate and chlorine feeds: carbon reacts with both oxidants and wastes them.

On PFAS, an honest note: powdered carbon can knock down long-chain compounds such as PFOA and PFOS during a spike or as an interim measure, but long-term compliance with drinking water limits usually relies on granular carbon or ion exchange beds.

Industrial Wastewater

Dosed into a contact or batch tank after solids removal, CarbPure TRA polishes trace organics, color, and PFAS that make it through earlier treatment, then leaves with the sludge. The same approach works for stormwater collected and treated in batches. Suspended solids and oil foul carbon quickly, so feed it after clarification where you can.

We ship CarbPure TRA in supersacks for plants that feed from a bulk bag unloader, or in dedicated pneumatic bulk trailers for silo storage.
